2. Grammar Focus (Trọng tâm ngữ pháp)
Grammar Point 1: Adjectives vs. Adverbs
Explanation: Adjectives describe nouns (people, places, things), while adverbs describe verbs (how, when, or where an action is done). Adverbs often end in -ly, but some adverbs like fast have the exact same form as their adjective counterparts.
Structure:
• Adjective + Noun or Link Verb (be, feel, look) + Adjective
• Verb + Adverb or Adverb + Verb
Examples:
- The sheepish child (Adj) hung his head.
- Jana sharply (Adv) scolded the child.
- The car is fast (Adj), but it drives fast (Adv) too.
Grammar Point 2: Simple Verb Tenses
Explanation: Use the Present Tense for current facts, general truths, or regular habits. Use the Past Tense for completely finished actions in the past. Use the Future Tense for events that will happen later or predictions.
Structure:
• Present: Subject + Verb(s/es)
• Past: Subject + Verb-ed / Irregular Verb (V2)
• Future: Subject + will + Verb (Infinitive)
Examples:
- Trina helps her sister every day. (Present Habit)
- Kelly went to the store for groceries yesterday. (Past Completed Action)
- Matthew will get a puppy next week. (Future Plan)
