Key Concepts

Synonyms are words that have the same or almost the same meaning. For example, hugeand enormous are synonyms. Writers use synonyms to make their writing more interesting and precise.

Antonyms are words that have opposite meanings. For example, hot and cold are antonyms. Knowing antonyms helps you describe differences between things.
