1. Target Vocabulary

Review the essential action verbs below. Pay close attention to their definitions, translations, and context clues.

2. Grammar focus

Action verbs are divided into two main categories: Physical Action Verbs and Mental Action Verbs.

? Physical Action Verbs (Động từ hành động thể chất)

Explanation: Action verbs describe physical movements or things people and animals can do with their bodies. These actions are observable.

Structure Examples
Subject + Physical Action Verb (+ Object/Adverb)
  • The cat jumps over the small fence.
  • They play soccer in the park every weekend.
  • She writes a long letter to her grandmother.

Explanation: Mental action verbs describe actions that happen in the mind and cannot be seen, such as thoughts, realizations, memory, and cognitive feelings.
