Unit 5: Animals and Habitats

All About Animals

Welcome to Unit 5! In this unit, we will learn about animals, where they live, and how they move. Animals are living things that can move and eat. We will compare different animals to see how they are the same and how they are different. We will look at their actions, like running, jumping, or swimming. Every animal has a home in nature called a habitat. A habitat gives an animal food, water, and a safe place to sleep. It is our responsibility to help keep these habitats clean and safe.

We use special words to tell where animals are. These are called position words. Is the bird on the branch? Is the rabbit under the bush? Is the bear behind thetree? Is the mouse next to the rock? Knowing these words helpsus share information about what we see. We will also learn about animal families. A mother or father animal is a parent. They take care of their babies.
