1. Food from the Farm
We all need foodto live and grow. Where does our food come from? A lot of it comes from a farmer. A farmer works hard on the land to grow crops. In the fall, farmers pick crops like apples, pears, and pumpkins. They also grow vegetables like carrots, peas, and yams. After the farmer picks the food, they might take it to amarket. A market is a place where people go to buy fresh food.We go to the market to buy healthy things to eat.
2. The Four Seasons
Farmers watch the weather closely. The year is divided into four seasons: winter, spring, summer, and fall.
- Spring: The weather gets warmer. Farmers plant seeds. We see rain and flowers.
- Summer: It is hot. Plants grow big with lots of sun. We have fun outside.
- Fall: It gets cooler. Leaves change color and drop. It is harvest time for apples and yams.
- Winter: It is cold. In some places, itsnows. Plants rest. We stay warm inside.

Fruits and vegetables are not just tasty; they are packed with vitamins that help you grow. Orange vegetables, such as carrots, pumpkins,and sweet potatoes (yams), have a lot of Vitamin A. This vitamin is very important for your eyes. So, when you crunch on a carrot, you are helping your eyes see better!
3. Phonics Focus: N and C
Letter N: The letter n makes the sound you hear at the beginning of nut and the end of sun. Can you hear the /n/ sound in banana?
Letter C: The letter c can make a hard sound like /k/. We hear this sound in cat, carrot, corn, and cake.
