Unit 11: Food and Eating Habits

Grammar Focus: Agreeing with “Me too” and “Me neither”

We use specific phrases to show that we agree with someone or share the same habit. When we agree with an affirmative (positive) statement, we use Me too or So + auxiliary verb + I. For example, if someone says “I love pizza,” you can say “Metoo” or “So do I”.

When we agree with a negative statement, we use Me neither or Neither + auxiliary verb + I. If someone says “I don’t eat meat,” you can reply “Me neither” or “Neither do I”. It is important to match the auxiliary verb (do, am, can, etc.) to the first sentence.
