Habitats, Forces, and the Night Sky
Understanding Our World
Our world is filled with amazing places called habitats. A habitat is a natural home where plants and animalsfind what they need to survive. Some habitats are large, like a forest ecosystem, while others are small, like tide pools found on a rocky beach. In these places, animals must protect themselves from danger. For example, a crab has a hardshell, much like a helmet protects your head when you ride a bike.
Forces in Motion
Objects move in different ways. When a roller coaster goes down a hill, it gains momentum. Momentum is the force or speed of an object in motion. We use tools like a drill to build things that can withstand these forces.
The Night Sky
When the sun goes down, a different world wakes up. Animals that are active at night are called nocturnal. If you look up at the dark sky, you might see constellations. These are groups of stars that look like pictures. Long ago, people named them after animals and heroes.
