What is Inside an Apple?
If you cut an apple in two, you can see what is hiding inside. The very middle of the apple is called the core. The core is the hard center part that holds the seeds. We usually do not eat the core or the seeds.Did you know that a big tree can grow from that little seed? If a seed is planted in soil and gets enough sunlight and water, it will sprout into a tiny tree. Over many years, it will grow big and strong and produce its own apples. It is amazing to think that the snack you hold in your hand contains the beginning of a whole new forest!

A compound word is made when two smaller words are joined together to make a new word with a new meaning. For example, the word applesauce is made of apple and sauce.
