Fall is Here at Last!
Read the text below:
The leaves are red and gold. It is cool at night. Orange pumpkins are in thestores. Fall is here at last!
Fall is a special time of year when the weather begins to change. The days might still be warm, but itgets cool at night. This tells us that winter is coming soon. One of the biggest signs of Fall is the changing colors of the trees. Leaves turn from green to beautiful shades of red and gold. You will also see many orange pumpkins in the stores and on porches.
Did You Know? Why Leaves Change
Have you ever wondered why leaves change color? In the spring and summer, leaves are green because they are making food for the tree. The sun helps the leaves make this food. When Fall comes, the days get shorter. There is less sunlight. The leaves stop making food, and the green color fades away. This lets us see the red and gold colors that were hiding underneath the green all along!

In this story, we learn about a fun activity we can do in the fall. After the leaves turn red and gold, they fall off the trees. When they are on the ground, we canuse a tool called a rake to gather them up. If you work hard, you can make a giant pile. The best part is what you do after the work is done: you can jump right into the soft leaves!

The leaves were bright last fall. There were sunny days and cool nights. The sun helps the leaves make food. This helpsthe leaves keep their colors. This year, the nights are warm and the days are cool. There are lots of clouds. The leaves are dull. But I still love fall!
This text compares two different years. Sometimes the colors of the leaves are very bright and shiny. Other times, theymight be dull or not as colorful. The story tells us that the sun is very important for the leaves. When we have sunny days and cool nights, the leaves turn bright red and gold. But if it is cloudy and warm at night, the colors might not be as bright.
