Learn About Fall Leaves
In the story, last fall had sunny days and cool nights. The sun helped leaves make food. When leaves can make enough food, they keep bright colors. This year, the weather is different. The nights are warm, the days are cool, and there are many clouds. The leaves look dull. The writer still loves fall. We can compare the two falls. We use past simple to talk about last fall: “The leaves were bright.” We use present simple to talk about this year: “The nights are warm.” We can also use contrast with the word “but”: “The leaves are dull, but I still love fall.” Weather can affect how leaves look. Leaves need sunlight to help make food. Bright leaves can be red, yellow, or gold. Dull leaves may look less colorful.
