Unit 6: Let’s be different! – Theory & Practice

Target Grammar: Present Perfect (+ ever / never)

We use the Present Perfect to talk about experiences in our lives up to now, without saying exactly when they happened. We form it using have/has + the past participle of the verb.

  • Ever is used in questions to ask about life experiences. Example: Have you ever traveled by plane?
  • Never is used in negative sentences to talk about things we have not done. Example: I have never ridden a bike.

Target Grammar: Verb Patterns

In English, when we use two verbs together, the second verb changes form. It can be a gerund (-ing) or an infinitive (to + base verb).

  • Verbs followed by -ing: avoid, can’t stand, enjoy, finish, hate, like, love, mind, practice, suggest [4, 5].
  • Verbs followed by to + base verb: afford, agree, arrange, decide, hope, intend, learn, need, offer, plan, promise, want, would like [4, 6].
