Vocabulary

Pets: Animals that live with people at home, like cats, dogs, and rabbits.

Wild animals: Animals that live in nature, not at home, like lions, tigers, or birds.

Pet characteristics: Words to describe pets, like friendly, playful, quiet, or smart.

Descriptive adjectives: Words that tell us more about a noun, e.g., small, big, cute, soft.

Rabbits: Small, soft animals often kept as pets. They like carrots and jumping.

Grammar: Adjectives Describing Nouns

We use adjectives to describe nouns (people, animals, objects).

Structure: adjective + noun

Examples:

  • A friendly dog
  • A small rabbit
  • A playful cat

Opinion Paragraph Structure

When we write about pets, we can give our opinion:

  1. Introduction sentence: Name the pet.
  2. Opinion sentence: Say what you think about it.
  3. Reason sentence: Give a reason for your opinion.

Example:

"I like rabbits. They are very cute. I like to watch them jump and eat carrots."

Worked Examples

Example 1: Adjective + Noun

Complete the sentence: "I have a ___ cat."

Answer: "I have a friendly cat."
