What is a factual statement?

A factual statement gives information that is true and can be checked.

What is an opinion statement?

An opinion statement tells what someone thinks or feels.

Opinion words: I think, I believe, I feel, in my opinion

Fact: Bees make honey.

Opinion: I think bees are amazing because they make honey.

Fact: A hive has many bees.

Opinion: In my opinion, a hive is very interesting.

Introductory Sentence

The first sentence of a paragraph.

It tells the main idea.

Concluding Sentence

The last sentence of a paragraph.

It ends the paragraph and repeats the main idea.

Example Paragraph

Introductory sentence: Bees are important insects.

Worker bees collect nectar and pollen. They help flowers grow.

Concluding sentence: For these reasons, bees are very important.
