The pyramids are famous buildings in Egypt. They were built a long time ago. Some pyramids are very large and very tall. People visit them from around the world.

Grammar 1: Complete Sentences

What is a complete sentence?

A complete sentence has:

  • A subject (who or what)
  • A verb (action or state)
  • A complete idea

✅ The pyramid is tall.

✅ The pyramids are in Egypt.

❌ Very tall pyramid.

❌ In Egypt.

Sentence Pattern:

Subject + Verb + Information

The pyramid + is + very tall.

Grammar 2: Comparative Adjectives

Comparatives

We use comparative adjectives to compare two things.

adjective + er + than

  • small → smaller
  • long → longer
  • tall → taller

The small pyramid is smaller than the large pyramid.

The wall is longer than the road.

This pyramid is taller than that pyramid.

Superlatives

It is the tallest pyramid in the group.

It has the most visitors.

Worked Examples

Example 1

Why? The sentence has a subject (The pyramids) and a verb (are).

Example 2

Question: Compare two pyramids.

Answer: This pyramid is smaller than that pyramid.

Why? We compare two things, so we use "smaller than".

Example 3

Question: Talk about one pyramid in a group.

Answer: It is the tallest pyramid.

Why? We use a superlative because it is number one in the group.
