Grammar: Possessive Nouns using Apostrophes

We use an apostrophe + s ('s) to show that something belongs to someone.

Structure: noun + 's

Examples:

  • The villain's plan is dangerous. (The plan belongs to the villain)
  • The hero's powers are strong. (The powers belong to the hero)
  • The enemy's ego is big. (The ego belongs to the enemy)

Rewrite: "The plan of the villain is clever."

Answer: The villain's plan is clever.

Example 2

Rewrite: "The powers of the hero are strong."

Answer: The hero's powers are strong.
