Unit 13: Reflexive Pronouns

What are Reflexive Pronouns?

Reflexive pronouns are words we use when the subject and the object of a sentence are the same person or thing. They end with -self (singular) or -selves (plural). Examples: myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves.

Form

  • I → myself
  • You → yourself
  • He → himself
  • She → herself
  • It → itself
  • We → ourselves
  • You (plural) → yourselves
  • They → themselves

Use

Use reflexive pronouns when the subject and object are the same:

  • I made myself
  • She looked at herself in the mirror.
  • We can do it ourselves.
