Unit 2: Describing People and Places
In this unit, you will learn simple words and structures to describe the people and places in your photos. You will practice talking about who is in the picture and where the photo was taken.

People: man, woman, child, friend, family
Places: mountain, river, city, house, garden
Actions & Descriptions: smile, look, wear, near, far
Use these words to talk about photos. For example: "The man is near the river." or "The child is smiling."
Grammar: To Be
Structure: He is / She is / It is
Example:
- He is a man.
- She is a woman.
- The child is happy.
Have Got
Structure: I have got / You have got / He has got / She has got
Example:
- I have got a camera.
- She has got a hat.
Adjectives
Use adjectives to describe size and appearance. Place the adjective before the noun.
Examples:
- a big mountain
- a small house
- a beautiful garden
Worked Examples
Example 1: Describe a person.
Photo: A woman is smiling and wears a red dress.
Answer: She is a woman. She is smiling. She wears a red dress.
Example 2: Describe a place.
Photo: A big river is near the city.
Answer: The river is big. It is near the city.
Example 3: Describe a family photo.
Photo: A man, a woman, and a child are in a garden.
Answer: The man is tall. The woman is smiling. The child is small. They are in the garden.
