In this unit, you will learn simple words to describe your pets' appearance and personality. You will practice talking about their size, color, and how friendly they are.

Target Vocabulary
- big – large in size
- small – not large
- young – not old
- old – not young
- friendly – kind and nice
- quiet – does not make much noise
- loud – makes a lot of noise
- fast – moves quickly
- slow – moves slowly
- hair / fur – what covers a pet’s body
- color – the color of a pet’s fur or eyes
- eye – the part of the face used to see
- tail – the long part at the back of some animals
Grammar: "To be" + Adjectives
Use is or are to describe pets.
- This cat is small.
- These dogs are friendly.
Adjectives go before nouns:
- a big dog
- a fast rabbit
Use this (singular) or that (singular far) to point at pets:
- This dog is old.
- That cat is young.

Example 1:
Look at the dog in the picture. How do you describe it?
Answer: This dog is small and friendly.
Example 2:
Look at a cat. It has long fur and big eyes.
Answer: That cat is old and has long fur.
Example 3:
Two rabbits run fast in the garden.
Answer: These rabbits are fast.
