What are "a" and "an"?

We use a or an with one thing.

  • Use a before a consonant sound.
  • Use an before a vowel sound (a, e, i, o, u).

A plural noun means more than one thing.

Three means more than one.

Correct: I buy three apples.

To make a question, add Do at the beginning.
