People buy food in a shop or a market. They often use a shopping list and carry a bag or basket.

Grammar 1: There is / There are
Use
Use there is for one thing.
Use there are for two or more things.

Situation: One bag of rice is on the table.
Sentence: There is a bag of rice on the table.
Why? One bag = singular → use there is.
Grammar 2: A / An / Some
Use
- a = one thing (before a consonant sound)
- an = one thing (before a vowel sound)
- some = more than one thing or an amount of food

Why? Rice is usually not counted one by one, so we often use some.

Use do to ask simple questions.

Why? Add Do at the beginning to make a question.
