Target Vocabulary
family – all the people in your home
mother – your female parent
father – your male parent
brother – a boy with the same parents as you
sister – a girl with the same parents as you
cat – a small animal with fur, often a pet
dog – a common pet, often friendly and playful
grandmother – your father’s or mother’s mother
grandfather – your father’s or mother’s father
baby – a very young child
love – a feeling of care and affection
happy – feeling good and smiley
play – do fun activities
care – look after someone or something
Grammar: Present Simple and "To Be"
1. Present Simple
We use the present simple to talk about routines or facts.
Examples:
- I love my family.
- My sister plays with the cat.
2. To Be
"To be" shows identity or feelings. The forms are: am, is, are.
- I am happy.
- She is my mother.
- We are a family.
3. This / That
We use "this" for something near, "that" for something far.
- This is my dog. (near me)
- That is my grandfather. (far from me)
Worked Examples
Example 1: Describe your family with "to be".
Answer: My mother is kind. My father is tall. I am happy.
Example 2: Talk about your pets using present simple.
Answer: I love my cat. She plays with a ball. We care for her every day.
Example 3: Use "this" and "that".
Answer: This is my brother. That is my grandmother.
