1. Musical Instruments Vocabulary

Instruments

Word Simple Meaning Example
piano A musical instrument with black and white keys. I play the piano.
keyboard An electronic instrument with keys. She has a keyboard.
guitar An instrument with strings. He plays the guitar.
drum An instrument you hit with your hands or sticks. The drum is loud.
voice The sound from a person when they speak or sing. Her voice is beautiful.

2. Words for Sounds and Actions

Sound Words

Word Meaning Example
loud Strong sound The drum is loud.
soft Quiet and gentle sound The piano is soft.

Action Words

  • play = make music with an instrument
  • practice = do something again to improve

3. Grammar: There is / There are

Use

Use there is for one thing.

Use there are for two or more things.

Singular Plural
There is a piano. There are two guitars.
There is a drum. There are three keyboards.

4. Grammar: Adjectives

What is an adjective?

An adjective describes a person, thing, or sound.

Pattern:

Subject + be + adjective

Example: The guitar is loud.
