Grammar 1: Present Simple

When do we use it?

Use the present simple for routines, facts, and regular work activities.

Structure

Subject + verb

  • I work in marketing.
  • We discuss projects every week.
  • She shares her ideas.
  • The leader helps the team.

Important Note

For he / she / it, add -s to the verb.

  • He works.
  • She plans.
  • It helps.

Question: What does Maria do every Monday?
Answer: Maria meets her team every Monday.
Reason: This is a regular activity, so we use the present simple.

Grammar 2: Imperatives for Requests

What are imperatives?

Imperatives use the base form of the verb. They are often used for instructions and requests.

Structure

Verb + object

  • Share the report.
  • Check the plan.
  • Discuss the problem.

Polite Requests

  • Please help me.
  • Please share your feedback.
  • Please send the file.

Situation: You need information from a colleague.
Request: Please share the project plan.
Reason: We use an imperative with "please" to make the request polite.

Grammar 3: Like / Prefer

Like

Use like to talk about things you enjoy.

  • I like teamwork.
  • She likes meetings.
  • We like new ideas.

Prefer

Use prefer to choose one thing over another.

  • I prefer email communication.
  • He prefers small teams.
  • We prefer online meetings.

Pattern

Subject + like(s) / prefer(s) + noun

Answer: I prefer emails.
Reason: "Prefer" shows your choice between two options.
