Unit Goal

In this unit, you will learn five useful high-frequency words: usually, didn't, friends, easy, heard. These words help you talk about daily life, past actions, people, and information.

Target Vocabulary

usually = most of the time

Example: I usually walk to school.

didn't = did not (negative form in the past)

Example: I didn't play soccer yesterday.

friends = people you like and spend time with

Example: My friends are very kind.

easy = not difficult

Example: This homework is easy.

Grammar Focus: Talking About the Past

1. Using "didn't"

We use didn't to say something was not true in the past.

Pattern:

Subject + didn't + base verb

Examples:

  • I didn't watch TV.
  • She didn't go to the park.
  • We didn't play basketball.

2. Using "heard"

Heard is the past form of hear.

Examples:

  • I hear music. (now)
  • I heard music yesterday. (past)

3. Using "usually"

Usually tells us something happens most of the time.

Pattern:
